The beauty of a charcuterie board lies in its versatility, allowing you to mix and match flavors and textures to suit any occasion.

Ingredients:

Meats:

  • 3-4 varieties of cured meats (e.g., prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, chorizo)

Cheeses:

  • 2-3 types of cheeses (e.g., cheddar, brie, gouda, blue cheese, goat cheese)

Crackers & Bread:

  • Assorted crackers (e.g., water crackers, whole grain crackers, baguette slices)

Fruits & Vegetables:

  • Fresh fruit (e.g., grapes, apple slices, berries)
  • Dried fruit (e.g., dried apricots, figs, or raisins)
  • Sliced vegetables (e.g., cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, bell pepper strips)

Nuts:

  • A handful of mixed nuts (e.g., almonds, walnuts, or pistachios)

Spreads & Dips:

  • Honey or fig jam
  • Dijon mustard or grainy mustard
  • Hummus or olive tapenade (optional)

Extras:

  • Olives (green, black, or Kalamata)
  • Pickles or cornichons
  • Dark chocolate or small sweet treats (optional)

Directions:

  1. Choose the Board: Select a large wooden or marble board to serve as the base for your charcuterie display. If you don’t have a large board, you can use a platter or even a large cutting board.
  2. Arrange the Cheeses: Start by placing the cheeses around the board. Try to include a variety of textures, such as a soft cheese (brie), a hard cheese (cheddar or gouda), and a crumbly cheese (blue or goat cheese). You can pre-slice or crumble some of the cheese to make it easier for guests to enjoy.
  3. Add the Meats: Next, fold or roll the cured meats and place them near the cheeses. You can create small piles or rosettes of prosciutto, salami, and other meats for visual appeal.
  4. Arrange the Crackers and Bread: Place the crackers and bread slices around the board, ensuring they are easily accessible. Try to create small clusters or lines of crackers between the meats and cheeses.
  5. Incorporate Fruits & Vegetables: Add fresh fruits like grapes, apple slices, or berries around the board to provide bursts of color and sweetness. You can also include dried fruits like figs or apricots for a chewy, sweet contrast. Arrange any vegetables, like cucumbers or cherry tomatoes, in a neat section.
