This Black Forest Cherry Bundt Cake is a rich, moist, and decadent dessert that combines the flavors of chocolate and cherries in a beautifully presented bundt cake. Perfect for special occasions or whenever you want to impress, this cake offers the classic Black Forest taste in a simplified form.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (devil’s food or any rich chocolate variety)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Maraschino cherries and chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the cake batter:
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then on medium speed for 2 minutes until well blended.
  3. Add cherries:
    Gently fold in the cherry pie filling and almond extract (if using) to the cake batter. Be careful not to overmix; you want the cherries to stay mostly intact for texture.
  4. Add chocolate chips:
    Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips for added richness.
  5. Bake:
    Pour the batter evenly into the prepared bundt pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool the cake:
    Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes. Then, carefully invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Prepare the glaze:
    In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if needed, until it’s pourable but still thick.
  8. Glaze & garnish:
    Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake. Garnish with maraschino cherries and sprinkle with chocolate shavings for a beautiful presentation.
