Oreo Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

Oreo Rice Krispie Treats are a twist on the classic crispy marshmallow treat, adding crushed Oreo cookies for extra texture and flavor. These no-bake bars are easy to make and perfect for kids, parties, or just a fun dessert. The combination of gooey marshmallows, crispy rice cereal, and crunchy Oreos is simply irresistible.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 10 oz (1 bag) mini marshmallows
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Extra Oreo crumbs or whole Oreos for garnish (optional)

Directions:

1. Prepare the Pan:

  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

2. Crush the Oreos:

  • Place the Oreo cookies in a large ziplock bag and crush them using a rolling pin or a heavy object. You want them to be broken into chunks, not finely ground, so there are still larger pieces throughout the treats.

3. Melt the Marshmallows:

  • In a large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until they are fully melted and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract (if using).

4. Add Rice Krispies and Oreos:

  • Remove the pot from heat and immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and crushed Oreos. Mix until everything is evenly coated with the melted marshmallow mixture.

5. Press the Mixture into the Pan:

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula (greased or wet to prevent sticking) to gently press the mixture evenly into the pan.

6. Cool and Slice:

  • Allow the Oreo Rice Krispie treats to cool completely at room temperature, about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once cooled, cut them into squares or rectangles.

7. Garnish (Optional):

  • For an extra touch, sprinkle some extra Oreo crumbs on top or press a whole Oreo into the center of each square before the treats cool completely.
